From the physical understanding to the practical cappuccino. Eight hours, everything a café day asks of you.

09:00 — 10:30

Espresso theory

What is espresso? Pressure, temperature, time, crema. Grinder, mill, tamper, brew group. Just enough theory to understand what you're about to do.

10:30 — 12:30

Grind + tamp + pull

Each person pulls twenty espressos. Fine-tune the grind, tamp evenly, hit 27 seconds. With a brew scale.

13:30 — 15:00

Milk & cappuccino

Microfoam, not big bubbles. Temperature under 65 °C. Pour and close the cappuccino. Classic Italian.

15:00 — 16:30

Latte Art basics

Heart and rosetta. Enough practice so you don't crumble under stress on the job. For more: Latte Art Intensive.

16:30 — 17:30

Cleaning & maintenance

Brew group, grinder, steam wand. What's daily, what's weekly, what's never. So your machine still runs in ten years.

Is this suitable for café staff?

Designed exactly for that. Most participants are either heading into their first café job or have just made the switch into one. Also restaurant owners who want to train their own team.

How does it differ from the Latte Art Foundation?

The Latte Art Foundation focuses on milk and pour. The Barista course is broader: espresso profile, grinder, cappuccino, cleaning — the whole bar workflow.

Do I get a certificate for my CV?

A written confirmation with course content and date. For an official SCA title, the Professional Training is the right path.

What if I'm not in Oranienburg?

Maisto Caffè is 30 min north of Berlin (S-Bahn S1 to the end, then a 5-min walk). Directions are in the confirmation email.

How professional is the setup?

Just like in a real café: dual-circuit espresso machines, professional grinders, calibrated tampers. No hobby equipment.

What if I'm lactose-intolerant?

We have oat, soy and lactose-free milk on hand. Let us know when you book.

Can I do Latte Art Intensive after this course?

Yes, a sensible sequence: Barista Foundation as the base, Intensive to go deeper. We give a combo discount.

What should I bring?

Comfortable shoes and an old T-shirt. Water. Everything else is provided.
